How to prepare a Muse connector: workflow, testing and submission

Prepare a useful Muse connector proposal, a safe test workflow and reviewer evidence. Understand which requirements are public and which still need confirmation.

What Muse publicly confirms

Muse asks developers to describe their product and how people will use its connector. Its platform page describes functional, security and legal review with end-to-end testing; directory appearance follows approval, and featured placement has a separate editorial decision. Start at the official Muse Platform page linked below and use its Submit a connector link. This guide covers preparation, not a verified end-to-end Muse integration. The reviewed public page does not establish a universal MCP transport, authentication scheme, callback URL or manifest schema. We will not invent those details.

Design a connector around one complete job

For a project-management product, an initial job could be “summarize overdue tasks in a project I can access.” Define the inputs, the authorized account, the returned fields and the boundary of the result. A useful result includes task titles, due dates and links back to the product, rather than a dump of every workspace record. Keep a write operation, such as assigning tasks, out of the initial scope unless confirmation and permissions are already designed. This is an illustrative workflow, not a claim that Muse has approved this connector or supports a particular UI.

Resolve the technical contract before coding an adapter

Ask the platform contact which endpoint and protocol versions are accepted, whether the connection is remote or packaged, and how users authorize their accounts. Confirm redirect URI registration, token refresh, revocation and required scopes if OAuth is requested. Ask how errors, pagination and tool changes should be represented. Save the answers with the implementation version. Do not place a shared administrator credential behind a public endpoint to bypass an authentication mismatch. If MCP is accepted, test the exact client contract rather than assuming that a generic MCP tools/list response establishes compatibility.

Prepare a reproducible review scenario

Prepare a disposable account containing a small project with known overdue and completed tasks. Write a positive test with the exact prompt and expected records, plus negative tests for a different customer, an inaccessible project and an expired connection. Demonstrate that secret values never appear in results or screenshots. Describe who owns support, how a connection is disconnected, and what data is retained. Share test credentials only through the platform’s approved review mechanism. Our recommendation is to keep this evidence as a versioned review packet, so later changes can be checked against the same baseline.

Submit and maintain the integration

Submit the product description through Muse’s official route and respond to the review findings before claiming directory availability. Keep endpoint changes controlled while a review is in progress. Hosting, successful review and featured placement are separate outcomes. MCP Ops can be evaluated as a hosting component for a supported runtime, but it does not automatically submit a connector or establish Muse authentication compatibility. Resolve that compatibility first; an API-key-only host cannot be presented as a finished user-scoped OAuth integration. Do not announce a launch until the actual integration and listing have been verified.
